During OS installation, it prompts you if you want to join a domain.  I say 
yes, and then everything works great.  (Assuming you have a LAN available, not 
so great if you're talking about laptops or mobile systems.)  

After seeing the dialogue once on a test system, you can figure out the name of 
the command you could launch on "regular" systems, which have already had their 
OS installed.  It's something like system-config-authentication or something.  
And after reading the man pages and twerking around a little bit, you can 
figure out which config files it changed and deploy using whatever 
configuration manager you prefer.

I've heard good things about Centrify and Likewise.  I used Likewise minimally 
a couple years ago, and I liked it, but we never deployed because our needs 
changed (company acquisition).
