I have to agree. Information can be found easily, so there is little point in paying for a membership, based on the hope that it's worth it.
Lopsa really is worth it (for me at least), while i wouldn't pay for ACM. The difference is that with LOPSA one can see what's going on (mailing list archives etc). And just in case, anyone can join the ml and have a good look around before becoming a member. This way, each member is actually wanting to support lopsa. A good thing in my book. I fear that when things start to disappear behind a paywall so will potential members... With apologies for the top post.
