Hi All, at OSGeo the Indian chapter Open Jump is the most used and evangelised software along with GRASS GIS.
1. It is used as a GIS that can be spread to the beginner and expert alike. 2. We have a mock exercise 'Locating a site for a Nuclear power plant', using a set of layers, which endears GIS to the user. 3. Project with OpenJUMP: For the parliamentary constituency of Rajahmundry we have used GRASS, OpenJUMP and ILWIS extensively. This is going to be presented at FOSS4G 2008. 4. OpenJUMP + PostGIS For Geologists we teach 'Mineral Prognostication', with Mock Exercise data which has become very popular. 5. OpenJUMP + Inkscape For Geologists to make cartographic outputs acceptable in standard formats. Thanks to the 'Vertex symbols plugin' and Printer plugin.. OpenJUMP is THE GIS for Geological maps. Mock Exercises: Soon would like to add the mock exercises freely down loadable.
