Congratulations, Toru, on receiving this award! Wonderful news! Just a friendly reminder to you and other local groups from the OSGeo education group... if you have generated any educational materials as part of your efforts, I urge you to consider sharing them through our educational resources system [1].
More broadly, there should be a much stronger link between OSGeo local group activity and the OSGeo education group than there currently is. I urge leaders of local groups to keep the educational group in mind whenever their groups do anything related to educational outreach. I imagine there is a lot that can be shared in this way between local groups that would really move our educational efforts forward. To post new educational metadata entries, go to [2] Finally, FYI, the OSGeo education group has been discussing the idea of creating two workbooks -- one covering desktop GIS and the other for web GIS. See [3,4]. The idea is to create a series of tutorials that are the same content but use different OSGeo-associated technologies (e.g., gvSIG, MapWindow, QGIS, etc.). If anyone has tutorials to share or something they are currently working on, please consider adding an entry to these wiki pages.
