Peter,

Verdammt! Wish I were closer to Vienna, must be spectacular now with Spring and
fresh snowmelt cascading the luscious green hillsides painted with alpine
flowers beginning to bloom!

As for open science and open data, an open geobrowser can make that information
come alive! WorldWind doesn't have an upscale 'pro' version to sober you up,
it's solid open source through-and-through!

Brand new today, the EU's 'big data' portal, www.EarthServer.eu, has
standardized on WebWorldWind (as has ESA), and they just popped this
'extra-terrestrial' body into view. Say 'Hello!' to Mars,
http://access.planetserver.eu/

And though we haven't yet got the nightly build delivering the latest to this
sandbox, it's a great place to play around with Open Science and Open Data,

Subject: [Geo4All] EGU General Assembly 2016: OSGeo Townhall on Tuesday April 19

Are you a scientist with an interest in Open Source Software, OpenScience and
Open Data ?
Are you attending the EGU General Assembly 2015 in Vienna?

If so, you are cordially invited to join the

OSGeo Townhall Meeting on Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in the
Geosciences Tuesday, 19 Apr, 19:00–20:00 / Room -2.91
http://meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU2016/session/22421

The townhall will give an opportunity to discuss the impact of open source
software projects for modern geosciences, to network and to propose future
activities within EGU and the software communities. Refreshments will be served.

An (incomplete) overview over open source related sessions at the EGU GA 2016
can be found here: https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/EGU_Townhall_2016#Sessions
