To forward the strong momentum gained from two successful workshops, the third workshop will take place in the Washington DC area on January 27-29, 2019. January 27th is intended for an ice-breaking event on the evening so that most participants will be ready for the morning program on January 28th. Dr. Manish Parashar, the Director of the NSF’s Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (OAC) will give the opening keynote on the morning of January 28th. We plan to wrap up the workshop by 1pm, EDT on January 29th. We are inviting position papers: http://gsi.cigi.illinois.edu/workshop3/ due on October 31, 2018, and look forward to your submissions. If your position paper is selected, you will receive NSF travel support to attend the workshop. Your help for spreading the word is greatly appreciated. Thanks & best, -Shaowen On behalf of the project’s advisory and steering committees http://gsi.cigi.illinois.edu/people/ ------------ Shaowen Wang Professor and Department Head Richard and Margaret Romano Professorial Scholar Department of Geography and Geographic Information Science<http://www.geog.illinois.edu/> Affiliate Professor Computer Science<https://cs.illinois.edu/>, Information Sciences<http://ischool.illinois.edu/>, Urban & Regional Planning<http://www.urban.illinois.edu/> Founding Director CyberGIS Center for Advanced Digital and Spatial Studies<http://cybergis.illinois.edu/> University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign<http://www.uiuc.edu/> NHB 2046, MC-150, 1301 W.
