The following initiatives might be of interest to some.

The report on Reproducibility and Replicability in Science (2019) by National
Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine provides recommendations to
researchers, academic institutions, journals, and funders on steps they can
take to improve reproducibility and replicability in science. Details at

Open Science policy of the European Commission is also important. Details at

It builds upon the 2016 report on Open innovation, open science, open to the
world - a vision for Europe

Subject: The World Science Day for Peace and Development 2019 - "Open Science,
leaving no one behind"

Dear colleagues,

I wish to send greetings to everyone on The World Science Day for Peace and
Development 2019 [1].

GeoForAll community has been contributing to Open Science and Open Education
over many years. Details at
https://www.osgeo.org/foundation-news/the-world-science-day-for-peace-and-development-2019-open-science-leaving-no-one-behind/

It is nearly 25 years ago (in 1994) that I first came across the amazing “geo
world” by pure chance. I was able to learn Geospatial Science thanks to the
help from many kind people who I will always be grateful for their kindness to
me. So it my duty now to help open more STEM education opportunities to all.
Details at
https://www.rd-alliance.org/group/geospatial-ig/post/please-share-open-principles-science-and-education-ideas-and-philosophy

I am requesting all colleagues who are part of key international scientific
organisations like the International Science Council to support Open Science
and use the opportunity to work for establishing dedicated Research Centres for
Open Science (with focus on geoeducation ) globally, so we can provide STEM
education opportunities for all.

The best gift to give is a gift of useful knowledge.

Best wishes,

Suchith
