One of the things I've wanted to do for a while is approach DigiKey and ask for their sponsorship of our Hackerspace.
I want to write a letter stating that we have many members who use DigiKey as their premiere parts source and we have many baggies of parts from them around our space (it's true). I want to include photos of our parts bench and mention some of the things we do there (Arduino, prototyping, cable splicing, etc.) and also mention that much of our parts supply is donated. I would request from them some sort of sponsorship of our parts bench, through a combination of tools/parts or store credit or discounts, and I think we could offer in return to hang their banner over our parts bench. Any objections to this? I'm not talking about a case where DigiKey says "okay we'll sponsor you but you can't hack teh netz" and we're forced to play by anyone's rules, I'm just asking for some discount/freebies of their stuff in exchange for a little advertising and recognition in our space. I'll compose a letter and show it to the group before I submit it. How's that sound? ~Justin
