Does anyone happen to have these books for Comp 1020 at U of M? If you

Amazon. Seriously... the first one was $30, second appears to be a bespoke book and therefore more likely it will actually be used.

As well consider searching for ebook versions as they could be cheaper too.

Of my entire long stay at the UofM I've actually needed the textbook for a course a total of a dozen or so times (over many years). I still bought them all like a chump (until 'third year').

Most CS courses 'have to' have a book (for policy reasons) but the prof rarely uses it or assigns readings. I just didn't buy book until the prof assigned something from it and if it was just an assignment... I'd either pool buy a copy of the book with a few class mates or bite the bullet. Either way never buy the books in the first week or so. The bookstore will stock for the course so there is no real rush and if the bookstore is actually out, ask them to write that down and hand that to the prof (in one case prof lent me a copy until the bookstore got more in).

Wow, textbooks are such a racket.
