Just to be clear real world performance of 802.11b is closer to 4Mbps to 5Mbps 
vs the rated of 11Mbps and for 802.11g it's closer to 20Mbps.  All this is 
greatly impacted by distance and interference.  So yes if the Squeezebox had 
802.11g built in you potentially could get better performance than the current 
internal NIC.

With the current price of the wired Squeezebox I would opt for that with a 
802.11g access point.
