The web access button is greyed out because the the server is not running.
There should be a start server button, click it and wait for a few seconds for the server to start up.
If this doesn't work try re-installing the server (5.4.1 or 6), use install preference pane for all users and enter your admin login. You are admin of the computer aren't you?
Then set the start slim server to when I log in.
If this does not work try repairing permissions with disk utility.
Once you get the server working you can change settings to allow for your music to be on an external HD.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi. For reasons best kept to myself I have decided to 'port' my mp3
collection over from Windows to Mac. The slimserver (5.4.1 for win xp
on original Squeezebox) always worked superbly.
My first try at installing slimserver (6.0!! - i realise this is not
the correct version to be using) for os X (Panther), the "web access"
button was greyed out - why can't I see this? I then tried 5.4.1 and
have the same problem. In addition, the squeezebox does not pick up the
server - prompts me to enter dhcp address manually but this doesn't work
either.
What on earth am I missing?
My plan is to keep the mp3s stored on a lacie ext hard drive and have them streaming from this drive via my mac attached to the network.
Any thoughts/ideas very welcome. Regards skellis
