To be paranoid, I've checked /etc/passwd and /etc/group and the user and group are in there.
...and do the numerical IDs correspond? Just a thought... I'm sure it's a permission issue ;-)
What about those two other files/folders /var/log/slimserver.log /var/cache/slimserver?
