Dieter an alternative approach to tagging Classical CDs is to make the mental leap that "CD" does not have to equal "album". When I started this project I spent some time trying to get to the bottom of this, and found discussions in various forums on the topic (sorry, don't have a URL to hand).
In my collection the CD you described would appear as two quite separate albums (in the sense of the value of the album tags), therefore showing up as entirely separate items in slimserver browsing. EXCEPT that both albums are contained within the same folder on my hard disc, so I can easily reconstruct the CD (from FLACs) if I ever need to. This approach does require a certain amount of extra manual taggin effort, but to be honest the automatic tagging you get on classical CDs is so awful that you wouldn't want it anyway.
