While there are reasons for preferring a centralized system, a big negative is sound quality. You can hear an obvious difference on even cheap equipment. I think that the smaller Tripath based amps in particular are likely to sound crappy with very long speaker runs (and I'm a fan in general).
On the other hand, the Tripath amps would be great for a decentralized system as they are inexpensive, have very good sound quality if built right, can be tiny, and you could just leave them on all the time and they would use almost no power when the sound was off. (I have a Charlize that I built up myself that I use with an SB3 in one room and it's beautiful!) -- lanierb ------------------------------------------------------------------------ lanierb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5566 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51077 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
