I use Lame to transcode my flac file to mp3 for streaming from home to work because my bandwidth can't support streaming flac. Transcoding is set on a per-player basis, and is by default set to not transocde. If you're at work and using Softsqueeze but don't have the bandwidth to stream lossless set the bitrate limiting for that player only and your music will be converted from lossless to mp3.
