Professor Tygar,

I found your point of view reasonable and your reactions warranted
under the circumstances. However, too many of the comments, including
some of yours, seemed too emotional and leaning in the "rant and rave"
direction. To use the old cliche, doing so adds heat but no light. 

Should you have an opportunity to contribute ideas for CS and
engineering curricula at Berkeley, try to suggest that students in
these areas often graduate without basic socialization and
interpersonal skills.  A bit of that was visible in some responses to
your posts.  More humanities and similar classes outside of the hard
sciences should be required.
