I solved this problem myself by digging around in the SC settings. I only recently upgraded from slimserver, so hadn't realized there was a 'podcasts' tab available for configuration. After finding a working url, I plugged it in to the 'new feed' box, applied settings, and now I'm good to go. The following url from NPR works for me...
