That's not really what ssl/https is normally used for. It protects your 
data from snooping and provides a reasonable guarantee that you're 
really connected to the site you think you're connected to (if you pay 
attention). It doesn't protect the server from being hacked or accessed 
illegally. There's some way of using certificates for client 
authentication, but that would be very cumbersome.

What you want is best accomplished with an ssh tunnel. SoftSqueeze is 
prepared for that.
