I looked before, but because I don't (and have never) use iTunes, I didn't think I could contribute much to this problem.
My first thought though is that it is a sort of bug, but could also be classed as desired behaviour.. SqueezeCenter is album centric so in a way it isn't surprising there are anomalies when it comes to tracks without an album defined. Is there an entry for "no album" at the start of the list? If there is, this would include all the new music that doesn't have an album. SqueezeCenter would treat this as one large album, so it would be at the top whenever you add tracks without a defined album.
