Is not having LAME installed enough? The settings interface screen indicates that it is installed. I have verified that LAME is available to the squeezebox user at the command line. Maybe I'll set a link in SC's bin pointing to the installed LAME. I pointed my alternate setup(nightly) to an mp3 directory and streaming worked. It did stop for no reason using XMMS.
