No, the SB Receiver (SBR) does not have any features or improvements over the SB3. It has a different DAC, but it is pretty much equivalent to the DAC in the SB3. Mostly the SBR is an SB3 without the vacuum flourescent display (VFD), infrared receiver, or headphone jack. But I bet if you think hard enough, you can find some other place in your home where you would like to have a Squeezebox. SBs like to travel in packs... ;o)
