I have been working on building a good UPnP solution in VortexBox. Currently we are using Ushare and it works OK. I have been told it is the best open source UPnP server. It still has a few problems streaming to various systems.
twonkymedia is pay software that is used on a lot of NAS systems. I hear it works will but I haven't tried it. I use XBMC here and I just do an SMB share to the XBMC box.
