RTSP is "just" the control protocol. It basically sets up the session and control thereof (setup, teardown, pause ..). Many very popular apps support it, not sure if elements of the SC solution do or don't.
The actual data is then transported with RTP (real time protocol) which carries tiemstamps and sequence numbers and what not. RTP typically works with RTCP for monitoring things like quality of service etc of the session. Not sure what parts of these protocols are or aren't implemented in SC, but then again their whole point is to provide interoperability among vendors in a very public environment - a consideration that isn't quite important in my home. -- pablolie ...pablo Server: 3.3 GHz Intel E8600 Core 2 Duo (8GB) - Vista Ultimate 64 and Ubuntu 9.04 64 Sources: SB3 (3), SB Boom (3), Duet, Accuphase DP65v CD Amplifier: Accuphase E306v Loudspeakers: Ceeroy 3-way tower (tuned) Headphones: Grado SR-1 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pablolie's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3816 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67820 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
