Actually it is worse than what iPhone states. He forgot to mention to most likely cause of data loss, user error! If you delete a file in a RAID 1 both copies are delete right away for you. Also if you have an application such as a bulk tagger go through all of your music and somehow corrupt it, RAID 1 again will not save your butt.
