If you use a phone and disable the "phone" part of it it could also
help a bit. Don't know about Android (never tried to turn off cellular
on that one) but on my iPhone it lasts significantly longer with only
WiFi than an iPod touch with WiFi so I assume it has a bigger battery.

iPod touch did last for a looong time too in the past if not used too
much but not so anymore since the iOS4 update, I'm down to 3-4 days on
standy only now (used to be weeks) and 1 1/2-2 1/2 days with actual
use.
