First there will be delays streaming through SBS and if you have set large buffers for your player the delays can even be 5-10 secs - one user reported 20sec.
OSX users who want Mac speaker audio to be played through SBS usually use Rogue Amoeba Nicecast and stream it as a http. Not sure if Nicecast works with Line-in but check their other products.
