Local search shows all hits in your local library at the same time and can be a bit slow on ReadyNAS et al. Global Search is a meta menu containing search hooks for local library but also "Apps" like Rhapsody, Last.fm,... It's essentially the "Global Search" menu item from SqueezePlay.

However, I do to a certain degree doubt the usefulness of drag&drop after playing around a bit with the Sonos App. I still think I'll do it if only for the fun it is.
