Hi everyone,

I've had 2 Squeezeboxes (Boom) for a several months now and I
absolutely love them. So far I've also been using SqueezeCommander for
my Android phone (HTC Desire) and been pretty happy with it.

Now a few days ago I won an iPad in a poker game :-) and while I didn't
immediately see what I would be doing with that thing (I work from home,
and don't travel a lot at the moment, and so far my phone was able to do
anything I needed done when I'm out of the house) I've been determined
to find practical uses for it, because well, now that I have the thing
sitting there, you know? ;-)

Along comes SqueezePad. Now THIS is really the first really practical
use of the iPad I have been able to find and I'm already loving it.
It's now sitting on my desk controlling and displaying the music I hear
and it's simply beautiful. Don't get me wrong, the SqueezeController on
my Desire is also lovely, but SqueezePad adds a whole new dimension.

What I particularly like is the option to use the iPad as an extra
player (through the in-App purchase) and then channelling the music to
my living room HiFi through AirPort. So far I have only been able to
control the music played there directly from my PC's iTunes (and even
though my office is just next door from my living room, it's much
easier just to take the iPad along now), so I can now actually control
the music I hear in my living room from my sofa.

SqueezePad's ability to act as a player might actually change the way I
use my Squeezeboxes, because one of them is in my bedroom now and I only
ever use it at night - in the future I might position that elsewhere and
simply place an active speaker system in my bedroom that'll simply plug
into the iPad at night.

One small glitch I discovered today though - I tried synchronizing one
of my Squeezeboxes and the SqueezePad player (played through AirPort)
and a strange thing happened. For the duration of one song, the music
was synchronous. When the next song started, the AirPort stream lagged
behind about a second and a half. When I tried to re-synchronize, I got
an error message (can't remember exactly what it said now I'm afraid)
and the music stopped on both players.

I realize that this is probably a technically very challenging use of
the system and it's not that big a deal anyway, but it would be nice if
the feature worked reliably, so I'm posting this here.

In every other way, SqueezePad is practically perfect and it has made
my new iPad actually worthwhile :-D

Greetz from a fellow Berliner by the way ;-)
