If all your files are MP3, then delete all your ID3v1 tags, and keep
only ID3v2. You can do it pretty easily with mp3tag, but it's not very
intuitive for a lot of people. At least it wasn't for me. See the wiki
article in the Beginner's Guide

Also, be sure to follow the usual rules for mass tagging operations,
namely (1) be sure you have an up-to-date backup of your files, and (2)
test the operations on a few files to make sure you are getting the
results you want before you unleash mp3tag on the whole library. mp3tag
is very powerful, meaning you can accomplish a lot -- both good and bad
-- with just a few keystrokes and mouse clicks.
