When I rolled back to version 6 I realised that although I had been forcing a rescan I had never actually deleted the slimserver directory between upgrades. Im back at 6.02 and so far it seems to be ok. Im going to give it some more time and see if it stays the same and then try an upgrade again. Ill try deleting all the files as you suggest if I get the problem again.
