Well, I answered both my questions. The install caused Perl to spin out of control. It ran for nearly 2 hours at 100% cpu for no apparent reason. Rebooting the machine put a stop to it and all seems normal
Also, I see that SqueezeNetwork doesn't work with the original SB. I put is in my menu and went there to find it says Needs SB2 (or something to that effect).
