You may be missing something. This is a Virtual Appliance (Ubuntu 9.10) with the Android SDK installed.You can use this on a Mac, I used a Mac to build the Virtual Machine in Virtual Box. VirtualBox runs on Mac, therefore you can run this Virtual Appliance on a Mac or most any other computer.
