The Duet was my first Squeezebox -- and so while I can understand the bad name it has earned (somewhat rightfully, I admit) I am very grateful for that product line as it introduced me to the world of SB. It's easy to bash the Duet now, but keep in mind that it was launched only 6 months after the first iPhone was released, and certainly was out before the AppStore existed. Without getting sidetracked into a love/hate Apple thread, there is no denying that the iPhone has been tremendously disruptive. The SBC might look redundant or even silly today, but in a pre-iPhone world I think it makes perfect sense that Slim/Logi pursued a portable controller.
I missed out on the pre-Logitech days, but I can say that it feels different now than it did in early 2008 when I started paying attention. The team is so much smaller now and new product development seems to have stalled. Although Andy's comments of late give me hope that there could be a revival upon us... Anyone heard what Sean or Dean are up to these days? It's unfortunate to not see them on these boards anymore. Figure this must have been something they loved as much (and probably more) than the rest of us here--sad that they no longer seem to be a part of this community. -- ajkidle squeezeboxen: 2x sbr, sb3, 2x boom, 2x radio, ipeng controlled by: iphone 4 running ipeng server: msi nettop 100 running vortexbox 2.0, lms 7.7 network: at&t u-verse, apple time capsule a1409, 5 netgear powerline av200 adapters music sources: local flacs, rhapsody, pandora ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ajkidle's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=18929 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=92232 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
