For context, Audible is a company that sells audio books for various
mobile platforms, i.e. iPhone, Android, Blackberry, as well as selected
MP3 players.  It seems the purchased books are downloaded to the device,
and can be configured so that you can listen to a chapter, and then read
the next chapter on the screen, etc.  Nifty.  

It seems to require the presence of an app on the device, so even if you
could break the DRM it is unlikely it would work functionally as a
simple MP3 file. 

Their pricing model is interesting -- basically a subscription model
with a base price of $15 (there is a starter special deal) which gives
you one book a month, plus discounts on extra books.
