I've been looking at tablets for a while now & wondering how they'd work as a Squeezebox 3 alternative. Ideally, i'd vesa wall-mount something like a 7" Nexus or Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, and use the WiFi connection to access my Logitech Media Server. So far, this seems to be what many people here are doing. Additionally though, i'd like to keep the wiring to a minimum by using Bluetooth to connect to a blue-tooth capable amp. As I understand Bluetooth 3 & 4, they use the bluetooth protocol to establish the connection, but the bulk of the data is actually transmitted via wi-fi. Whether or not that is correct, my query is would the App (& tablet hardware) allow simultaneous retrieval of 320K MP3 files (wi-fi) & transmission of files (bluetooth) to amp? Would there be any lag?
Also, I can only find 2 screenshots of the software, so am not too sure how it looks or would scale to a 7" display: Is it only portrait, & is there a possibility in the future of an interface mimicking the Squeezebox 3s (ie. songtitle/time remaining with background spectrum analyser)? Sorry if this has already been answered, it's quite a long thread! :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pete Gintz's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58028 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87364 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
