If you get an external server , get one that can transcode (x86 cpu ) . The native ALAC support is a bit flaky the transcoded is more robust , as it is disabled by default in most server versions excepts when we dont have any other options , on the Touch itself or similar cpu challenged platforms .
You could try to use flac files ? And if the hardrive dont have its own power supply (recomended with Touch avoid bus powered drives ) a powered USb hub migth help . There is abunch of articles on the wiki and I think "Jean2" or some one wrote a good tread about making this work as good as possible . Note that the server software can run on a wide variety of platforms , any left over laptop or netbook would do too . ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97968 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
