While it rips DVDs and Blu-Ray discs to .mkv it will also mirror to mp4 and/or m2ts if you want. You need to get an MKV license though for $50.00. A vortexbox can also output 3-5 independant streams or audio outs, 3 analogue and 2 more by using USB DACs. It's great if you have a centralized distributed audio system with a matrix audio switcher for routing music to your zones.
