A little off topic, but I think higher bitrate mp3 is quite good and shouldn't be discounted so quickly. About 8 years ago @archimage (a user here) did some double blind testing of FLAC vs higher bitrate mp3 and the outcome of that test can be found here; https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?98010-RESULTS-Blind-Test-MP3-vs-Lossless-out-now I think several of the players in this challenge are members on these boards.
