An update. Changed some settings back and forth to clear the existing ones from the config, and the display glitch is now fixed. I just didn't deal with it before now.
It was not a priority, and is still not much to think about, as this client hides behind a door. Now I stare at an undecipherable blue-green glow for 30 seconds until the screensaver kicks in.
