I haven't received mine yet (pre-ordered Nov 14th...waiting...waiting...waiting), but my understanding that it boots very quickly. If you are coming out of standby mode, it's effectively instant-on.
After I get my grubby paws on this gadget, I am hoping to start some involved discussions on using the 770 with Slimserver.
