There are two separate things here:

1) Use of TTF to support unicode characters - in this case put one of
the 3 TTF files into the Graphics directory.  As per
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?UnicodeFonts  These are used as
the normal font for unicode characters [i.e. no more font options show
up, its just that uncode characters appear]

2) Adding additional font options for normal latin characters.  In this
case bmp files are used and should be put in the graphics directory. 
These can be created from TTF files using the converter referenced
above.  A TTF file is not needed in the graphics directory when doing
this.

If you see any crashes could you post the error message [on windows I
think you need to look in the even viewer.  Otherwise start the server
from the command line and post what it says]
