my netgear DG834 has never had a problem, connecting via a belkin 54g WAP.
If you look at the wiki here: http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?RouterStatus there is a list of which routers/WAPs people have got working and which ones people have thrown out. The Linksys WRT54G seems to be very reliable.
