The MSI should open in Windows installer and do everything automatically. http://downloads.activestate.com/ActivePerl/Windows/5.8/ActivePerl-5.8.7 .815-MSWin32-x86-211909.msi If you're on XP I think you should already have the right version of Windows Installer.
I wouldn't recommend the .as package as I used this last and it wasn't as complete as the MSI.
