Not really, no.  There's really nothing to tweak or change, it is what
it is.

There have been many posts about problems with synch lately.  As you
can see, Richard is trying to find a novel way around it (native, fast
playback rather than through Java).

I haven't seen many posts about synch problems with a hardware
Squeezebox and a software (non-Softsqueeze) player though, although you
won't get all the Softsqueeze functionality.

Try Winamp or foobar2000 and point its playback location to
"http://<SlimServer IP address>:9000/stream.mp3"

Unfortunately this will cause the server to transcode everything to
MP3, even other MP3s I believe, so if you have an older/slower machine
there's a definite possibility of lag.
