Did you connect to SqueezeNetwork? Firmware can also be pushed through that way as well.
Very strange. Now in regards to hacking: 1. Hacking SlimServer: pointless. It's open source. What would be the point? Someone would notice it right away and fixing it would be easy. 2. Firmware: this is closed and very hard to work with. There are only a very few people at Slim who can modify it. It's machine-level code compiled for a RISC processor. This isn't the sort of stuff script kiddies can understand or get into. I have no doubt that Slim maintains network security on the same level as other device manufacturers offering downloads. It's as safe as any of them, I guess. Slim could possibly start publishing MD5 checksums to verify that the download is the same as at the source. --- cvj <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Hi Mark, > > I am running - and have been running - Slimserver > version 6.2.1 build > 5194 - for Windows XP since I first got my > Squeezebox 3 about a month > ago. > > I have not downloaded or installed version 6.2.2 > > And now - to further add to the mystery - just had a > call from my son > who also has the SB3 wireless and he had the same > problem I had. > Fortunately I could tell him about the "press button > 1 on the remote" > solution and get him back up and running. > > So, are we the only two owners of the SB3 wireless > (running windows XP) > that has experienced this anomaly in the last 2 > days?? > > And - next question - if the SB3 downloads software > updates via the > internet - and since there is no way to NOT install > the update - what > happens if the update patch is hacked ???
