I have an Infrant ReadyNAS X6 running my slimserver. My library is currently running at 1400 albums 16000 MP3 songs.
I am having intermittent problems with my Squeezeboxes (wired SB1, wireless SB3) Scenario 1 - Squeezebox running a Random Mix. Frequent long pauses between songs (often with display stating connection lost) - I guess this is when the random songs are searched. Scenario 2 - Squeezebox running a browsed song. Both scenarios behave exactly the same whenever the slimserver does something like browse albums, etc. The playback pauses wherever it is for a second or two, then continues from where it was. (Testing this on my wired SB, I can see that the buffer is dropping to 0% when the pause occurs) One other thing I noticed particularly when running in the Random Mix mode was a high number of crackles and pops in the playback. These are not on the original tracks (verified by rewinding). They sound very similar to the noises when SB is rewinding a track. I have no performance issues playing any of this music through iTunes on my PC or Mac.
