Errr.. go take a look at the new Mac mini. It now has SPDIF input and output, plus connects seamlessly to all the music and video in the house stored in iTunes, connects to a TV and your stereo, comes with remote and AV software. I'm seriously tempted if it's quiet since you can now hook it up to a decent DAC, use lossless and browse music by artwork. Plus no slow server response times. That's the true competition for SB. It's $599, but you get a whole media centre plus a very usable computer!
