Yes, I think that is the issue!  My prefs had been set to use "java mp3
plugin".  I switched it to "jlayer" and now my CPU utilization is more
like 9% - 18% for softsqueeze.exe.  Also, if I click the power button
in Softsqueeze, it drops to 1% utilization.  This is more like what I'd
expect.

Do others have problems with the mp3 plugin??  I'm going to use jlayer
for now.
