I do this today. I have ceiling speakers in my bathrooms, but the SBs and room amps are in a cupboard outside the bathroom. I can get to them to update firmware when necessary (only had to do it once when upgrading to SlimServer 6.5). I prefer this approach to running a PC with multiple cound cards etc because I like other functionality such as synching players together, and because I like the audio quality I get.
