I have SB2 and slimserver running on XP. For the first month all was fine. About 3 weeks ago my slimserver (6.2.2) stopped running. It would start, then EI would give the URL not found for http://localhost:9000. I checked all settings and firewall permissions and all are they were when slimserver worked.
I read through other posts here and I can see others have similar problems. I tried all ideas already suggested but nothing works. I also tried uninstalling and installing version 6.3. Yesterday I checked in the Event Viewer and found this message from when Slimserver tried to start: The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( Application ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Perl interpreter failed. The "Perl interpreter failed" makes me wonder. Slimserver is written in Perl I believe. Any ideas or suggestions?
